I wear business formal for work and travel often, meaning I am often exposed to rain. For years I have eventually developed cracks in dress shoes despite my attempts to clean and use leather conditioning products on them. So, for moderately heavy use (running to the train etc), 5 days a week, what is the minimum number of pairs I need and how often do I need to clean/buff them (after a few wears or weekly)? If I get rained on, does this mean I can’t wear them until I clean and buff a pair? I hardly have time on weekdays, it would imply I need at minimum 5 pairs of dress shoes. Thanks.

It's worse on my left boot (pictured) but it's happening on both boots. Is this something I can fix on my own or should I take it to a cobbler? if I can fix it on my own, how ?

I’m tired of permanent straps on my bags. Has anyone successfully removed straps and in turn made them detachable?
