I am dating an Assyrian girl, I'm meeting her parents for the first time this Thursday. I've never gifted any girl's parents anything but I want to bring something to her family for my first visit. My first go-to is a bowl of fruit from the grocery store and some flowers (orchids if I can find them). The parents are from Iraq. I'm essentially... American. I appreciate if anyone knows of something that's tasteful yet accessible to gift an Assyrian family in America. We're also Catholic if that helps. Thanks again.

外围体育投注Edit 1: Gf said Champaign would be good. Buying orchids and hunting down baklava. 85% says this is going to be walk in the park. 15% is giddy and holding it together. 99% will let you know what happens. The reason I posted this question was to also help other good and honest non-Assyrian people get a sense of what to expect when they land an Assyrian Parent Interview. Thanks for the responses.

I'm looking for some movies, particularly in the NPD, to watch. Unfortunately, there is a lack of films I know of and I hope there are some other ones. In the NPD, I only know of the film about Tel Keppe flood and the dubbed Jesus movie.

A discord for learners and speakers of Mhallami Arabic of Mardin. If you have Mardini blood and speak or want to learn the local dialect, I'd like you to join the community.
Note that this is generally a Mhallami learning group, although it supports any culture/language of Mardin like Syriac.

WELCOME TO R/ASSYRIA

外围体育投注The history of the Assyrian people can be traced back to circa 2500 BC. Throughout this time, population growth and an extensive, broad history has brought with it varying diversity.

Today, this diversity is represented in the form of various Assyrian groups who identify as Assyrian, Chaldean and Syriac.

Here at r/Assyria外围体育投注, we recognise the struggle and hardship the Assyrian people currently face in the Middle East. Therefore, we strongly advocate for reunification and the coming together of all our people so that our voice can grow loud enough to be heard across the globe.

The official languages on this subreddit are: ܣܘܪܝܬ, English.
