It started turning into a music platform during its heyday back around 2004. I remember it was one of the best places to find new bands and emerging artists. iirc it was one of the first social sites where bands could upload and share music for free.
I dont get the issue with MySpace, there is absolutely a place for MySpace as a rebranded service, targeting artists and creative types that want a portfolio/blog/CV, with social communication and commentary. Maybe even a store front.
